Travel in Crete
Long distance coaches
Comfortable coach services run at half hour intervals in daylight hours along the north coast from Iraklion to Rethimnon and Hania, and from Iraklion to Agios Nikolaos. Timetables are displayed in English in the ticket offices in the main towns but do not expect anyone to tell you which is the bus for your destination. Ask the driver each time.
Timetables and fares
Buses from Iraklion to Rethimnon or Hania leave the East bus station at 05.30, 06.30, 07.15, 08.15, 09.30, 10.30, 11.30, 12.00, 12.30, 13.30, 14.30, 15.30, 16.30, 17.30, 18.30, 19.30.
The fare was 900 drm. from Iraklion to Rethimnon and 1650 drm. from Iraklion to Hania.
Buses from Rethimnon to Iraklion leave from the road beside the bus station office on Dhimocratias at 06.30, 07.30, 07.45, 08.45, 09.45, 10.45, 11.45, 12.45, 13.30, 13.45, 14.45, 15.45, 16.45, 17.45, 19.15, 20.45.
Buses from Hania to Rethimnon and Iraklion leave from Odos Kidhonias at 05.30 , 06.30 and 30 minutes past every hour until 16.30, then 18.00 and 19.30. The fare from Hania to Rethimnon was 800drm. and from Hania to Iraklion 1650 drm.
Buses from Rethimnon to Hania leave from the road beside the bus station office on Dhimocratias at 07.00, 07.4, 09.45, 11.00 and on every hour until 21.00.
