Toilets
In tourist areas most toilets are the same as those of northern Europe but the waste pipes are not designed to cope with toilet paper. Waste paper should be placed in the bucket provided. In other areas you place your feet on the positions marked and squat over a hole in the floor but again the waste toilet paper goes into a bin provided. It is a good idea to take your own toilet paper.
Most towns have public toilets but these are not always clean. In small towns and villages the only toilets available are often those in tavernas. A small purchase at the taverna serves to keep everyone happy.
